Students From Outside the New York City Metro Area are Eligible to Apply for Stipends

  • A limited number of travel and lodging stipends are available (up to $300 offered per student, based on individual need). 
  • We can help provide and easy and affordable ways for you to travel to the symposium. Contact Warren Lloyd (716) 645-1617 or Roma Mandzyk (716) 645-0755 to learn more.
  • To apply for the stipend, you must pay the mandatory $100 fee for registration which is refundable (less a $25 processing fee) if you are not chosen to receive a travel and lodging stipend.
  • Stipends will only be offered to students who live outside the NYC metro area.  Apply here.

Eligibility for student stipends:

• Eligibility for stipends is limited to students in good standing with financial need.

*Please note that stipend applicants will be screened by UB Judicial Affairs for any open or unresolved disciplinary issues and College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Office.

Funding Preference:

A combination of the following funding preferences will be used to make UBC2C stipend awards:

• Qualified students with outstanding portfolios, volunteer, internship, or other demonstrated commitment to an arts, entertainment or media career.
• Qualified students with above average cumulative GPAs.
• Qualified students who are close to graduation (from undergraduate or graduate programs).

Refunds for Student Stipend Applicants:

If you are not awarded a travel and lodging stipend, and you wish to receive a refund for you registration fees, notify rmandzyk@buffalo.edu by email by June 11, 2010. Your registration fee will be refunded, less a $25 processing fee.

Completing the Application:

To apply, students need to provide the following:

• Name, address during the semester, and address during July 2010

• Phone number

• E‐mail address

• UB person #

• Date of Birth

• UB major

• Estimated graduation date (MONTH/YEAR)

• Faculty referral name (the name of one UB faculty member –in any department or school ‐ who would recommend you for this program)

• Short essay (500 words maximum) to answer the following questions:

‐Why you are interested in participating in the UB Coast to Coast Symposium?

‐ How does this symposium relate to your studies at UB?

‐ How does your background prepare you for this symposium?

‐What are your career goals and how will this symposium help you?

• Optional materials: Resume or C.V.; link to online portfolio, etc.
