Sunday morning, the “next generation” of entertainment industry professionals will learn what it takes to make it in the ’biz” at UBC2C’s special “Sunday Morning Mentoring Madness” with veteran marketing executive Madelyn Hammond whose talk is called, “50 Things I Learned Along the Way: How to Swim with the Sharks and Not Get Eaten.” Hammond, principal of Madelyn Hammond and Associates, a marketing and branding agency specializing in entertainment, media and technology, will give real life examples of how to succeed and survive in the entertainment industry. Most recently, she was the Chief Marketing Officer for Daily Variety, Variety and Variety.com. Hammond previously worked in various positions for Columbia Pictures, AMC Theatres, Turner Pictures, MGM/UA and Sony Pictures.
As students enter a difficult job market in a tough economy, Hammond and over 40 other industry VIPS, from ex-presidents of studios, lawyers and acquisition executives to producers, publicists and magazine editors, will provide valuable, insightful advice on how get a foot in the door to an audience of college students–including 42 UB students attending the conference from Buffalo on scholarship–UB alumni and other young professionals living and working in Los Angeles. At 9:00 a.m. Hammond’s inspirational talk will open up the session.
